DASHBOARD INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS GUIDE BY GLOBAL IMPORTS MINI
The indicator/warning lights can light up in a variety of combinations and colors.
Several of the lights are checked for proper functioning and light up temporarily when the engine is started or the ignition is switched on.

RED INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS
Some of the warning lights include the: safety belt reminder, airbag system, parking brake, brake system, approach control warning and a person warning. More details behind what these different warning lights mean follows.

SAFETY BELT REMINDER
Indicator light flashes or is illuminated: safety belt on the driver or passenger side is not buckled. The safety belt reminder can also be activated if objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
Make sure the safety belts are positioned correctly.

BRAKE SYSTEM
Braking system impaired. Continue to drive moderately.
Have the vehicle checked immediately by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

APPROACH CONTROL WARNING
Indicator light illuminates: advance warning is issued, for example when there is the impending danger of a collision or the distance to the vehicle ahead is too small.
Increase distance.
Indicator light flashes: acute warning of the imminent danger of a collision when the vehicle approaches another vehicle at the relatively high differential speed.
Intervention by braking or make an evasive maneuver.

AIRBAG SYSTEM
Airbag system and belt tensioner are not working.
Have the vehicle checked immediately by the dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

PARKING BRAKE
The parking brake is set. Release the parking brake.

PERSON WARNING
If a collision with a person detected in this way is imminent, the symbol lights up and a signal sounds.
ORANGE DASHBOARD INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS
Orange Warning Lights on your MINI Cooper's dashboard could mean: vehicle detection or the active cruise control. Check out the following for more details.

VEHICLE DETECTION, ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT
Indicator light illuminates: a vehicle has been detected ahead of you.
Indicator light flashes: the conditions are not adequate for the system to work.
The system was deactivated, but applies the brakes until you actively resume control by pressing on the brake pedal or accelerator pedal.

ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The number bars shows the selected distance from the vehicle driving ahead.
YELLOW DASHBOARD INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS
The dashboard indicator warning lights that beam in yellow can mean a plethora of things.
They include: The anti-lock braking system warnings, Dynamic stability control issues (DSC), DSC deactivation Flat Tire Monitor (FTM), Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Steering System, Emissions and Acoustic pedestrian protection inactive. For more details, check out the following explanations.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ABS
Braking force boost may not be working. Avoid abrupt braking. Take the longer braking distance into account.
Have the system immediately checked by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR TPM
The indicator light lights up: the Tire Pressure Monitor reports a low tire inflation pressure or a flat tire. Follow the information in the Check Control message.
The indicator light flashes and then continuously lights up: no flat tire or loss of tire inflation pressure can be detected:
- Interference caused by systems or devices with the same radio frequency: after leavthe area of interference, the system automatically becomes active again.
- TPM was unable to complete the reset.Reset the system again.
- A wheel without TPM wheel electronics is mounted: have it checked by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop as needed.
- Malfunction: have the system checked by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

EMISSIONS
- The warning light lights up: Emissions are deteriorating. Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible.
- The warning light flashes under certain circumstances: This indicates that there is excessive misfiring in the engine.

DSC DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL
The indicator light flashes: DSC controls the drive and braking forces. The vehicle is stabilized. Reduce speed and modify your driving style to the driving circumstances.
The indicator light lights up: DSC has malfunctioned.
Have the system checked by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

FLAT TIRE MONITOR FTM
The Flat Tire Monitor signals a loss of tire inflation pressure in a tire.
Reduce your speed and stop cautiously. Avoid sudden braking and steering maneuvers.

STEERING SYSTEM
Steering system in some cases not working.
Have the system checked by a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

DSC DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL IS DEACTIVATED OR DTC DYNAMIC TRACTION CONTROL IS ACTIVATED
DSC is deactivated or DTC is activated.

ACOUSTIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION INACTIVE
Acoustic pedestrian protection deactivated or possibly not working.
